Regular corundum DSO (also knows as blasting corundum FeSi) is a ferruginous non-disposable abrasive with squared grain. It is brittle and not as stable as the common regular corundum. The iron content is exclusively bound to silicon. Due to the iron content, this abrasive should not be used for non-ferrous metal or stainless steel.
Since this abrasive is low priced, it is suitable for outdoor blasting or for tasks with extensive loss of abrasives.
Application range:
- Blast cleaning
Cleaning of metallic surfaces with material removal (abrasive effect) where the high rate of iron is not disturbing
Removal of rust and scale layers on metallic surfaces
Removal of discolouration
Removal of varnish - Miscellaneous:
Roughening of metallic surfaces before coating
Deburring/improving of the surface
